Grandmother Zehman

Changing the World

Using your talents to improve the world is a core tenet for Charna which she learned from early childhood from her grandmother Irene Ratner Zehman. Irene taught her family to live life with purpose, limitless energy, great joy and to always help those in need. She was a model volunteer, and the Irene Zehman Volunteer Award recognizes a woman, group of women or a women’s organization whose efforts demonstrate the highest ideals and practices of volunteer services. Charna has the privilege every year, with her cousin Nancy Wolf and now her daughter Sydney Silverstein, to present the award at the Annual Meeting of the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.
